RCA

The Norelco PC-60 Plumbicon tube camera was introduced in 1965 followed by the PC-70 in 1967. Philips/Norelco introduced the Plumbicon tube and I've written an interesting back story in the Forum (RCA Engineers page) on how those very same pickup tubes found their way into the RCA TK44 series cameras. Engineers of the day always got into debates of whether the PC series Norelcos or the RCA TK44s made better pictures and from the blogs we've read, it all seemed to come down to a matter of personal preference. Both cameras made excellent pictures for the day. CBS was ecstatic with this new camera and was Norelco's best customer as sales of Norelco cameras were driven mostly by the fact that RCA owned NBC and CBS had long ago chosen NOT to buy cameras from their arch rival.
